The Seattle Seahawks Jim Mora was fired after just one season, leaving the former champions of the NFC West without a coach, general manager and president less than four years after they appeared in the Super Bowl. Speculation about Mora’s replacement immediately focused on the coach at the University of Southern California, Pete Carroll.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the chief executive of the Seahawks, Tod Leiweke, flew to California this week to interview Carroll for the job. The ESPN website, citing anonymous league source said that Carroll could join Seattle as soon as next week.

‘The name of Pete comes out every year at this time. In the past, he has never commented on these reports, “said USC spokesman Tim Tessalone. ‘No waiting for his presence here. Until this point, we have nothing to report ‘.

Leiweke did not answer an email seeking comment from Carroll, who was 6-10 with the Jets in New York in 1994 and 27-21 with two playoff appearances between 1997 and 99 with the New England Patriots.

Leiweke Mora was fired during a morning meeting at team headquarters, ending a four-week internal evaluation, ordered by the President of Operations.

Hours later, the team confirmed the event in a statement. On Sunday, Mora finished his only season leading the squad with 5-11 after taking over the team from his hometown and ending the era of Mike Holmgren. In his contract had three years and nearly $ 12 million remaining.

“We had to make a difficult decision,” said Leiweke, who remains at the forefront of the next franchise owner, Paul Allen. ‘It became apparent after we conducted an extensive internal audit, we need a new direction to provide opportunities for success to the organization. Today’s decision, though difficult, is part of the process for changing the view on the franchise in 2010 ‘.

Seattle has a 9-23 mark since his last trip to the playoffs in January 2008 after four consecutive titles in the NFC West.

‘The team and most importantly, the community, mean too much for me and it really hurts not being able to carry on’, “Mora said in a statement. ‘I’m disappointed that I had the opportunity to complete my contract. It is a tricky business in which sometimes demand instant gratification. “

Please do this more often – if all the coaches and players were fired from all the football leagues worldwide then good things would happen:
    1. The game would return to being a game, played for fun.
    2. There would be no more football on television or in the papers.
    4. Stevedoring would gain a massive increase in its labour force, and traffic by sea would become correspondingly cheaper.

    Do it.
